CASE 580B Loader Backhoe Hydraulic Cylinder Seal Kit Identification and Application Chart
To obtain the correct seal kit, the cylinder must be identified to determine which type of piston is used in your application. Checking the face of the gland for stamped numbers can make identification to the two types given below.
SP-type piston. The most common type piston used on the 580B was the "Split Piston". Cylinders with the split piston generally did not have numbers stamped in the gland nut and some have a grove machined in the face of the gland. Although if your gland does have a number, stamped in it, that starts with G3, it will be a cylinder with a split piston.
OP-type piston. Not as common on the 580B the other type of piston used was the "One Piece Piston". If a cylinder has been replaced it was most likely replaced with this updated type. These cylinders are stamped with a number in the face of the gland. If the stamped number starts with G10 it will be a cylinder with a one-piece piston.
*Note: Backhoe Stabilizer Cylinder tube bore diameter must be measured for proper identification.
